Universal Easter Eggs for Christmas
Something Universal has been doing increasingly well is hiding Easter eggs of their classic attractions in new things like queues and stores. The tradition continues in their holiday decorations on the streets of Universal Studios this Christmas season! Back in 2017, I noticed some themed garland strung up around certain places in the New York section of the park.
They expanded on the themed garland a little more this year. Adding pretzels above the Auntie Anne's location and other small nuances sprinkled up and down Delancey Street. I also caught the monkeys hanging where the old Curious George balloon used to be, and thought that was the pinnacle of my discoveries. During a tour on the first night of the holiday offerings, my guide asked me if I had found any of the Easter eggs in the decorations yet. I thought she was referring to these little details that I've been spotting, and I told her how I found the pretzels and musical notes. She just kind of nodded and smiled, told me to keep looking and didn't tell me anything else about it.
It wasn't until after that holiday tour and seeing tweets from Alicia Stella that I really started to investigate and take a closer look at the decorations. The rumor was there were 10 of these hidden gems sprinkled mostly throughout the New York and Hollywood sections of the park. And once I had a better idea of what I was looking for, knowing where to find them became a lot easier. Since these Easter eggs were tributes to retired and extinct attractions, chances were they'd be on buildings they were once housed in. For some of them, they're hanging on a building close by and facing where the closed attraction once was. The video contains the majority of them that I was able to find on my own. There were a couple that I had to go back and find the next day, thanks to the help from Alicia.
I hope this is a tradition that will continue for years to come. I think Rosie from the Jetsons is my favorite. Which one is yours? Is there one you think is missing that should added next year? Let me know on Twitter, Facebook, or email me at [email protected]
