When it started to look like the storm was heading this way, Universal started taking precautions. Mostly removing props from Halloween Horror Nights' scarezones. But when it started getting really serious and talk about the parks closing came up, the prepartions got turned up to high gear.
The photo above and below from Jacob Huston were taken on Friday September 8th. The last day the park remained open before the hurricane was the next day on the 9th. I personally visited that day.
Lots of the prep done was for perserving HHN props, but other things were removed around the park like awnings and banners. Some flags were also rolled up. Check out the YouTube video below filmed entirely on the last day of park operation before closing for the storm. The park was quite empty that day and was a very unique experience to be there! All of our personal preparations were done and we were ready to go at home so we felt comfortable making the visit. Would you have gone to the park that day if you could? Maybe for the next one! Until then, catchy catchphrase!
